COPYWRITING
Punctuate correctly. Have a voice. Write with heart.
I got my professional start as a high school English teacher. I’ve carried those skills with me ever since. Below are some samples of my writing in various formats.
Excerpt from Pisgah Film House Email Newsletter:
These barricades are methaphorical.
In Ladj Ly's Oscar-nominated French film, Les Misérables, you won't find anyone waving the French flag atop any barricades, and you certainly won't Hear the People Sing. What you will find is a cop thriller that masterfully ratchets up tension until its incendiary third act. It is not for the faint of heart, and we mean that in the best way possible.
While Les Misérables ultimately lost the Best Foreign Language Oscar to Parasite (who else?), it remains a worthy nomination, a riveting experience, and a film that's bound to generate good conversation. That's why we're happy to announce the return of FILM CLUB, our very casual post-screening discussion of the film. Next weekend's discussion will take place after the Sunday 1:00 show.
LES MISÉRABLES is coming to Pisgah Film House this weekend, March 6-8. Tickets are now available! Click the button below to get started…
Script I wrote for a recruiting video for a consulting firm in NC. My concept was to utilize user-generated photos and video for authenticity and to convey the familial environment and work-life balance of the firm. I used a casual, conversational writing voice for relatability:
(NAME OF FIRM). It’s true that we’ve been around for a while. 40 years to be exact.
It’s true that this work that we do…it’s challenging. It’s meaningful.
And it’s true that we’re pretty damn good at it.
But let’s be absolutely clear on one point: we’re also pretty good at having fun.
That’s right: we work hard…and we play hard.
We’re 100% committed to making lives easier, helping others through our consulting services.
We’re also 100% committed to kicking ass on the kickball field.
And in a footrace.
And at thissss...this thing…
Yep. We have a legacy of time-tested quality work, after all.
We also have a legacy of axe-throwing
cookie-decorating
bike-assembling
wedding-crashing
cigar-smoking
go-kart-racing
head-shaving
….(big breath)...and screaming.
We could mention that for EIGHT years in a row, Forbes recognized us as one of the country’s Best Management Consulting Firms. We’re pretty proud about that.
You know what else we’re proud of? Our holiday sweater game.
When we started here, all of us knew that it would be a rewarding place to work.
But what most of us didn’t understand – that it would be such a cool place to work.
Individually, we’re an eclectic, dedicated bunch.
And we’re even better together.
So yeah, we work hard. And we play hard.
It’s a formula that’s gotten us pretty far. And we’re just getting started.
